Lauren Descendant is the creator of the favoured "Clarice Bean" stories, a series countless picture books about an irrepressible five-year-old girl with a wildly madcap brotherhood. The first book in the convoy, Clarice Bean, That's Me, won character Smarties Book Prize in 1999.
